A Finish!

I was out of town this weekend, spending time with my parents for Easter. I always have a project going at my parent's place, different than the one I'm working on at home so I don't have to lug all my stuff around back and forth. This also means that I don't get to work on the piece at my parent's place all that often, since I'm not over there a lot. This weekend, however, I finished "Magnificent Wizard," something I had been working on maybe one weekend every 2 months for the past 3 years. Here it is!

I'm quite proud of it. Also, I like dragons. A lot.

My progress on "College" has not been as great due to going out of town. The end of page 2 is on the horizon, however, and my goal is to finish it by Sunday.

You can just barely start to see a bit of rooftop and spire in the lower right corner. I'll post the page mid-week if I finish before Sunday. Until then, happy stitching!

By request

By request, here are some of my finished pieces:

That's a dresser scarf I made for my grandma. My mother sewed on the lace fringe because sewing machines and I don't get along.

A close-up of the stitching:

Here are some small pieces I've stitched along the way as gifts for my sister:

I have a couple more finishes that I don't have pictures of, but they were given out as gifts long ago. The next one, however, is possibly my proudest one yet. Teresa Wentzler's "The Guardian"

And with that, I go back to work...

Crazy Weekend

Not much stitching happened this week, and not for lack of want. The week was busy but besides that the weekend was absolutely insane. Possibly the craziest/busiest/most social weekend I've ever experienced. The weirdest thing, however, was what happened with my house guests. I won't get into the details but basically I heard a loud crash come from the bathroom. I, naturally, ask if everything is ok. Someone dropped something, no big deal, alright let's go to that party we're going to. I get home from the party, go to the bathroom, and the entire inside of my toilet bowl is shattered. That's right. The outside is fine, but the porcelain inside, both above and below the water line, is in pieces. I have no idea how to go about creating damage like that, but damage was created. Oh and did I mention that I only have one bathroom in my apartment which now, essentially, has no working toilet?

Suffice it to say I paid my landlord a visit this morning and within an hour had a new toilet installed. But really. Really?

That was only one event in this crazy whirlwind of a weekend, but I won't get too into it. Instead, I will display my awesomely pathetic amount of stitching accomplished. I was hoping to finish page 2 by the end of this week but, obviously, it didn't work out. I also probably won't be able to finish this coming week due to Easter. But hey, it's about the journey, not the destination.

Some little progress visible, I suppose. Until next week, happy stitching!

It continues

I managed to finish all of 310 and 939 in "College" but, unfortunately, am still not even close to completing page 2. The confetti is making it really slow going, but I am enjoying it immensely. Still can't see much of anything except trees, but I think there's a bit of rooftop on this page in the bottom right that I just haven't gotten to. So, without further ado, the progress so far:

Until next time, happy stitching!

&%*# Confetti

As you can probably tell from the title of this entry, I'm a bit frustrated with confetti. I haven't had a chance to really work on College this week since I went out of town on Thursday. But I did manage to get a total of a few hours worth of stitching before I left and a little bit more tonight.

There's a lot of confetti in there... Right now I'm trying to get all the 310 in since it's relatively clustered together and then go from there.

Until next Sunday night, then... Happy stitching!
