This and That

First of all I want to thank all of you who commented and gave me advice on my previous post. I've spent the weekend brooding at Boyfriend's and realized that the legal field is just Not For Me. I wouldn't do it if I wasn't getting paid and every day is an agony. If I start sobbing before work, get panic attacks, etc., it's not for me. So then what do I do? I worked as an archivist for a few years, and I loved it.  I was good at it, I enjoyed it, and it was fantastic. So let the research begin. It's time I made a life decision for myself, and no one else.

I was visiting Boyfriend this weekend and when I got home this afternoon I have goodies from 1-2-3 Stitch waiting for me. Some beads and silks for Chatelaines,  some DMC thread and something I'm SO EXCITED about: gridding wire! So I'll be implementing that soon!

Another thing is that HAED released an awesome chart: Middle Earth. Do not click that link if you're trying to resist temptation and are a giant Lord of the Rings Nerd. I made this mistake. I made the bigger mistake of showing Boyfriend. Boyfriend made puppy dog eyes but insisted that he didn't want me to spend the time or money on him. Heart  melted, I promptly purchased and kitted. Oh, gosh. On the up side, I made some decent progress on Medieval Shelf this weekend!

It's starting to come together! I didn't want to start another page of  College until I got the gridding wire but now that I have it, it'll be full steam ahead... Once I visit Boyfriend again.

Happy Stitching Everyone! 11 (working) days of my temp job left.

I Am a Terrible Human Being

As some of you may know, I have a tendency towards BAPs. As some of you may also know, I've been itching to start a new project and to do a Chatelaine. I've been TERRIFIED OUT OF MY MIND to do a Chatelaine. They're gorgeous but also difficult and expensive. Jo from Serendipitous Stitching suggested that I have a smaller project going so I don't get frustrated and have at least some finishes.

Sooooo... Chatelaine freebies!! I have some spare 28 count Aida and I'm going to tackle Kathy's Violets and Tiny Rose Garden. I think they're adorable, small projects, and I'll get to practice Chatelaines. I'm thinking of making some coasters out of Kathy's Violets but we'll see. I'm not good at finishing.

In other news, I got a temp job. And I hate it. I haven't shared much about me with you guys besides Boyfriend and Iceland, but I'm a paralegal. I wanted to go to law school but one of my ex-es (they're ex-es for a reason, right?) told me I couldn't do it. So I didn't. Then after we broke up and I decided I could, I realized I didn't want to. So I got a few bachelors degrees, did an associates in paralegal studies, and worked as a paralegal for a few years. And I hated it. So I quit that job (many many reasons) moved back home and now I got a temp job at a law office. And I hate it. I spent the entire day in tears today. I need a new career and I have no idea what to do. The temp job is only two weeks but now I have to figure out what to do with my life. Argh! I wish I could get paid for stitching :( Any suggestions you guys have would be super helpful because at this point I have no ideas. What do you guys do, do you like it, and how did you end up doing it?

I'm having a mid-life crisis at 25.

When I'll Do a Giveaway!

Hi everyone!

First of all, thanks to all my new followers. I try to follow everyone back that I can, but sometimes I can't see your blogs in your profiles, so if I'm not already following you, please comment with a link to your blog as I'd love to see your work in return!

Also, I've been thinking about when to do a giveaway for a while now. I'm over 50 followers at this point (wow! I can hardly believe it!) However, as much as I love you all, I'm unemployed right now. I want to give you guys good stuff so I've decided that I will do a giveaway.... drumroll.... when I get a job! It'll be my celebration and my gift to you all.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week and had a great weekend. And as soon as I am able, I will celebrate with a lovely giveaway to celebrate you all. :)

IHSW Results and Stitching Plans

Boyfriend pounced upon me on Friday with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and I didn't get as much stitched as I thought I would. We ended up going to a water park on Saturday, too. The rest of the weekend was spent stitching, reading, watching movies, and playing some old school Sega Genesis. My PS2 died this weekend. A sad, sad day. I forgot to post a picture of progress before IHSW. Terrible,  I know. Sorry! Either way, here you go:

So I've made some plans for stitching. Currently, I'm stitching two projects for my sister (Mario and Riding the Wave) and two secret projects for my parents (College of Magical Knowledge and Medieval Shelf). I really really don't like Riding the Wave. I just keep messing up on it and it's annoying me. Also, I would really like to be working on a project for myself. But I don't really want to be working on more than 3-4 projects at once (you guys are right, if I want to finish something, I need to stop starting things).

So here's my plan. I'm going to power through Riding the Wave when I'm not visiting Boyfriend. When I am, I'll be working on College and Medieval Shelf, but mostly College. Once I finish Riding the Wave, I'll restart Dark Queen, and that way I'll have one project for myself, one for my sister, and the ones for my parents.

That would mean that the plan for projects will be as follows (this is not including my whole stash, just kind of thinking about three projects ahead):
Riding the Wave -> Dark Queen -> Mystic Mermaid
Mario -> Hummers -> A Peacock and Doves in a Garden
College of Magical Knowledge -> Medieval Shelf -> Treasure Quest

Whew! Happy Stitching, all! Can't wait to see your IHSW results!

A Little More Mario

I managed to do a bit more on Mario this past week and weekend. I've kind of shifted gears and I don't let myself stitch until I've completed my "to do" list. It's agonizing, but it also means I get more done. Blergh being an adult.

I'm also super tempted to start Dark Queen, Mystic Mermaid AND Treasure Quest. I WANT! But I'm trying not to start a new project until I finish one. What do you guys think?

 Now, for Mario. Before:

Happy stitching, everyone!

College, Page 3!

First of all, thanks so much for all the kind comments! I truly appreciate it :)

I went to visit Boyfriend this week. This means that I grabbed College and stitched like a demon. A DEMON.

It'sa me, Mario!

I have managed to find my box of projects. Being the genius that I am, however, I packed my patterns in a different box, which took another couple of days to find. But find them I did! I can't work on College while my parents are home since it's for them. They work from home a lot so I'll probably have to take College with me when I go visit Boyfriend, which isn't a problem. Same with Medieval Shelf. That left me to choose between the horsies or Mario. Since I'm about ready to set fire to the horsies, but since my stitching mojo is in overdrive right now, out came Mario. He stitches up pretty quick, though. So, without further ado, about one day of progress on Mario:

He's looking kind of creepy with that wonky eye. Like I said, he stitches up pretty quick so I'm sure he'll have two eyes and a complete nose by the end of the week.

Until next time, stitchy friends!
