College check-in (and another crazy idea)

Saturday the 14th is my first deadline for College. Please excuse me while I cry quietly in the corner at my inability to meet the deadline. But, chin up, I can do this! Either way, I'm off to Boyfriend's today for a week (it's his birthday next Wednesday!) and I hope to do some catching up then. But I wanted to show you guys what I've been able to do in the last three days since my parents only just went back to work after a week off.

Before:

After:

If I'd had that week, I think I would have been able to meet that deadline. But it's ok! I have a week of stitching only on College so we'll see how far I get!

Now for the crazy idea. I've been looking at my stash lately. I'm being VERY good, resisting ALL the HAED sales, I resisted the ECC goody bag offer, and I'm being super super good lately. I've got two new starts lined up (Mystic Mermaid and Mistress Darkness). In my stash, I have three Stephanie Pui-Mun Law tarot patterns. One of my life goals (stop laughing) is to stitch all the tarot cards (really, stop laughing). So I better get started, right? They're actually pretty small as far as HAED patterns go, and I'll just work them into my rotation. I can't decide which to start, though!

The Empress
200x332 stitches

Strength
350x561 stitches

The Lovers
200x328 stitches

I'm leaning towards The Empress because I'm really excited to see those butterflies. Also, Strength is a little big for me to want to tackle right now. I also love this whole rotation system because I don't feel guilty about a new start! Woo hoo!

There's a little poll on the top right of the column for your input. It expires at the end of the day tomorrow, and the choice will ultimately be my own, but I'm really VERY curious about your input (and I know that Jo, in particular, likes to vote on stuff).

The Crafty Princess has received her package - woo hoo! So I can show you the last secret stitching project I worked on during March IHSW:

It's the same as Sharine's Teresa Wentzler whitework ornament except this is stitched with Caron Collections Waterlilies "teak." I was originally going to do a different ornament, but I realized I didn't know how to do one of the stitches and it would have taken too long to figure out (the diagram and instructions weren't very clear).

I leave you all with a photo from Boyfriend's and mine trip to Iceland back in August. This is the town of Vik, photo taken at about 10pm.

That's great progress for only three days! I think you really might be able to finish in time for Christmas! Looking forward to seeing what you get done during that week at your boyfriend's. :)

Wow Ewa. Great progress. It is such a gorgeous piece. I am jealous - I would never tackle anything like that.

Definitely the one with the butterflies. I am a butterfly fanatic!

I finally pulled out a bunch of stuff I wasn't working on yet from my bag, since I have sewing club tomorrow morning. But I have lots and lots of things on the list.

As you know, I just started my first HAED and we were figuring up the total stitch count. Looks like about 200,000 stitches. Can that be right? OMG, that is right. Wow. I might finish it sometime next century. I'm amazed at the progress you have made. When did you start your College?

My vote is The Lovers...so we can start them around the same time! :)

Don't sweat it if you don't make your College goal...it's just a goal! Maybe you play catch up with the next goal and that will even things out!

Well I voted for Empress but Lovers was a very close 2nd. Strength is lovely as well. What a great idea to stitch them all ;0). Your progress on College is brilliant - dont worry if you miss the odd goal here & there they are just there to help you achieve not to get you stressing about not achieving them. I haven't the nerve to do a HAED & I admire anyone who stitches them ;0)

ohh pretty. I'm liking the Tarot cards. (I do not need more stash)
If you think that's a lot to tackle, I have a book of wine patterns with two huge patterns for white and red wine and my hope one day is to have them both done, and framed for my dining room.

I've excercised my right to vote LOL.
I think I was a suffragette in a previous existence, I've voted in 90% of the local elections since I was 18 and 100% of the General Elections.
I also like to fill in surveys...
All three designs are gorgeous whichever you choose to start.

I missed the POLL, so sad, I would have voted for Lovers I think. Love your goal to stitch all those Tarot Cards - They are beautiful

I think your goal of all the tarot cards is awesome...can you imagine how cool it would look to have them all framed on the wall? You would need A LOT of wall space! lol. You have chosen some beautiful charts to start with, can't wait til you start stitching them!
We can have a competition to see who finishes their series first, cuase my goal is to stitch all of the 7 Deadly Sin charts! We both need to live to be 300!

/hugs,
Nikki

Nice progress, Ewa. Those HAED designs sure are pretty. I'm not brave enough to stitch one just yet. Too many stuff on my to-stitch list already. LOL!

Hugs,
Veronica.
