A Series of Unfortunate Events + College #57

I didn't post last week because I got about 44 stitches in over the course of the whole week, and it was a BAD week. This one wasn't much better. But more on that later.

Before:

After:

Got a little bit of the brown in, so there you go. About 3,000 stitches left in the page!

So let's see. I had my second dress fitting about two weeks ago, and I have to say I absolutely LOVE it. It's going to look gorgeous, if I do say so myself. I guess most of the bad parts for the week come from the school front. Everything seemed to be due at once and I was doing nothing but going to work and then coming home to do homework until I went to bed. Not a fun way to spend your time. On top of that, Handsome Helpful Fiancé's employer decided to give us one day's notice that they were sending him "somewhere" for "some time" and that his "travel had been booked." Turns out it was Houston for one week for training, but it would have been nice to have had more notice. I was doing homework last Sunday and was feeling pretty good about things because I was almost caught up, just had an assignment due that night that I was feeling pretty good about.

And then all hell broke loose.

I drove HHF to the airport and as I parked my car back at the apartment, I got an email from one of my professors. Apparently I had misread the instructions for an assignment due the week before, and didn't turn all of it in. So I had to by the end of the night. It's now 4pm and I have an extra assignment due that I hadn't planned on. Yes, because of my own stupidity (this is what happens when you have so much going on, you miss stuff), but that doesn't change the fact that I now had to do it. So I sat down and did it and about 3 hours later I had it turned in. Back to the other assignment. It's due 11:59pm PST which makes that 1:59am for me. I turned it in at 1:39am. My parents had to help me with some formatting because I couldn't get the software to cooperate. And then, at 2:02am as I'm lying down in bed, I realize that I did it wrong. Completely and totally wrong. And at this point there's nothing I can do about it. I still haven't received my grade for it back, but the mistake rested on the fact that not all the instructions for the assignment were in one place, and I hadn't navigated to the second place with more instructions in time. Again, my fault.

And I haven't even STARTED my final portfolio project which is due April 21.

But that's not the kicker. The kicker is that my wedding venue caught fire early Saturday morning. It did not burn to the ground, and I think they'll be able to fix it in time for my wedding. I sent them an email and don't expect to hear from them immediately because they're likely swamped with phone calls and emails about the very same thing, and quite frankly mine is not a priority because my wedding is just over six months away, but I am a little anxious (as, I think, any bride would be).

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen (are there any gentlemen?). I'm a ball of nerves. The good thing is HHF is back now and I'm all caught up on homework.

So here's the plan for the day:

Finish my cup of coffee and watch my episode of Ghost Adventures (season pass!) while stitching on my AAN Halloween Mystery SAL (which I'm behind on - oops!). Then, work on my portfolio until about 6pm after which I sit down to relax and stitch. Maybe make/get dinner somewhere in there. Cross your fingers!

Also, I finally got an Instagram account. It's kind of a personal project where everyday I try to find the beauty in life around me. It hasn't exactly panned out like that, but I'm going to keep trying. It's out there, I just have to find it. Follow me @sherlochnessmonster if you want. Or don't. Up to you!

Stats:
Pounds lost: 4 (I went up a pound. It happens. Whatevs.)
Days until end of school: 58
Days until wedding: 202
Estimated completion for above chart: 10/28/2016

Happy stitching, everyone!

Oh no! A burned-down venue is not good news :-( I really hope they get it sorted out before your big day. Hopefully their insurance will cover providing an alternative venue for you if not?

I shouldn't worry about the projects too much, I sure they get lots of people asking for extensions etc. Have a chat with them on Monday.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear about all the stuff that went wrong and I'm crossing my fingers that it won't be so bad after all. I hope your wedding will be able to go as planned and that your grade won't be that bad. I believe in you to be able to get over this mess and finish a super-portfolio in time, you are such a strong and intelligent girl and you will make it =)

By the way, great work on College =)

oh my goodness.... I think I would be having a major nervous breakdown right now if I was you!!
It is no fun at all when everything goes wrong (and even worse when you realise you did something wrong on top of everything else...) I do hope that your school projects get all sorted out... and your wedding venue! oh my goodness not what you want to hear!
Sending you a big hug across the stars to hopefully make you feel better :o) xxoo

Oh dear, what a week! I hope it will all work out for you and your grade will be better than you expect and your location will be even more beautiful by the time you'll get married.
Great progress on College, the shape of the buildings is becoming more and more visible.

Gorgeous stitching. And I hope everything does work out. Sounds like a stressful couple of weeks.

Wow, let's hope that's enough Bad Stuff for a while... Lucky your wedding is still some months away, I think it's very likely that they'll have things running as usual by then. It's great that you're determined to make time for stitching, as I find that when things get really stressful for me, stitching is what keeps me sane. I know I don't comment often - that's just the way I am - but I am here, and I'd keep my fingers crossed for you but I can't as I need to stitch. Sending lots of good thoughts your way!

Holy hell Ewa! Just one of those things would have sent my head spinning. You got through it though so good for you stunner. I'm sure the wedding venue will be renovated and wedding ready in 6 months. Just relax, have faith and keep smiling like the star that you are!
College is coming along great too.

What a rubbish week. I hope that everything is a lot smoother for you. Surely that HAS to be all your bad luck in one go. xxx
