I am a Cross Stitching Addict

I've known for a while that I enjoy cross stitching, but I didn't realize until last night that I'm probably a true addict. This happened when I was staying up, putting in the first stitches of my Greek Mandala, and I had to force myself to put it down. But I bet you're waiting for the new start picture, aren't you.

Greek Mandala by Chatelaine Designs
Stitching on 32-count antique white Belfast
2 over 2 with DMC, various silks, delica beads, and Swarovski crystals

This is just so much fun to stitch - and it's a completely different style of stitching than my HAEDs, which makes it a nice break from them. It's also very easy to break this pattern up into parts and tell myself where I want to stitch to that night and still have it be realistic. So there you go - my first large Chatelaine. I hope you're ready for plenty more where that came from!

I really love how Boyfriend is getting into my stitching. The other day when he was here and I was stitching Middle Earf, he asked if he could make a stitch. I let him, of course, and he seemed so pleased and excited. It was actually ridiculously adorable. Then last night I heard my mom on Skype with my grandma, talking about my stitching. She hi-jacked my scroll frame while I was threading another color to show her. And then my dad walks into my room and starts asking me about my stitching and such. It's a really nice feeling when other people can appreciate your hobby, even if they don't take part. It's really, really nice.

A note about my name. Not sure if I've ever explicitly mentioned this, but I was born in Poland and grew up there. My name, Ewa, is Polish. In case you were wondering, it's pronounced "eh-vuh." Like "Eva" but the "e" is more like the "e" in "bed." If that makes sense.

Now I'm off to shower and drive up to Boyfriend's for a few days with College in hand. The next page is mostly sky so we'll see how far I can get with it. Hope you like Greek and happy stitching!

I'm an addict too, welcome to the club! :D It's such a delightful addiction that I'm not even going to try to get rid of it, just to try to remember to go to bed early enough to get enough sleep before morning. :)

A beautiful start, I'm so excited for you! Looking forward to more progress pics on this one. :)

Ahh, the life of an addict, lol! Just think, we could be addicted to something far worse, at least our hobby is fun, keeps us busy, and makes beautiful things, like your Greek start! It is going to be amazing! Glad your family is supportive of your hobby, I love it when someone asks about my projects. Enjoy your stitchy time with BF!

/hugs,
Nikki

Well... HELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOO gorgeous!!!!! Oh yes, I mean you too, Ewa, but really it was meant for Greek. HAHAHAHA..

That's so awesome how your family is into your stitching. Makes a world of difference when you can share it with them.

Have a safe drive!!!

P/S. Nice to know how your name is pronounced. In my head, in our email chats, I alway pronounce it Eva....

Ooooh!! It's so lusciously divine!!! I would be like you too, adding in stitches as soon as I get the threads!! Truly addictive!! So sweet that your family is into your stitching. It's nice isn't it :D

I love how your bf wanted to make a stitch! So cute!!

As for your name, I figured it was Polish and pronounced as such in my head!! Good luck with the College!! Maybe BF will add a few more stitches in, hehehee!!

What a wonderful new start and the blues are just awesome. It's nice to have a project that's not your normal style of stitching.

Yup I'm an addict!!!
